Li Wenqiang is extremely sensitive to those which have changed our lives.  Electronic games, cheap packaging materials, industrial scaffoldings & whose which have brought him depression, pleasure & restriction are his main creative sources of inspiration.  His installation works using packaging materials reflected the kind of embarrassment we have encountered in reality.  Although we have already entered post-industrial era, packaging has just become part of our lives not so long ago.  Packaging stimulates desire, bringing torture as well as giving rise to showing off.  Packaging doesn’t only involve materials but also human beings.  Packaging human beings represents certain feedback on us by external influences.  In this desire driven society, man’s true consciousness has been over-shadowed by technological environment.  Our behavior is more or less waiting to be approved by society.  To what extent are desire fro materials, packaging & restrictions what we hope for?  In his most tedious works in terms of color & shapes, Li Weqiang vividly created a cosmopolitan “packaged” colony.  The artist truly revealed our predicament – a “packaged new race”.
