金 石
Jin Shi’s works are like espresso of today’s china.  His small sized realism installations took us by surprise & draw much attention.  All the subjects he has chosen will definitely be over-looked by most of us.  By reducing the size of the real thing, these installations impose huge impact on audience & bring attention to those living at the bottom of the society.  They live so close to us but as yet as if so far from us.  Audience realize from these installations their own existence & condition.
“Fake Stall” reflects ordinary people’s need & consumer capability in the city.  Small it maybe, it actually fits in the rules: there is need, there is market.  “Fake Stall” not only reflects the longing for badly made designers’ goods, but also reflects the conflict between affordability & quality of goods.  These bright, eye-catching low quality imitations are cheap but fashionable.  Behind the unlawful behaviour here is something very artistic:  only the fake & low quality become so real, ridiculous & artistic.
